Testimony:

"There is an attorney, Gordon Reiselt, who answers questions, and seems very knowledgeable. He has a law firm in New Mexico. You can see by his responses that he is not fishing for business. He gives direct answers, often tells people they don't need a lawyer, and gives advice on what steps to take."

What Types of Injuries Are Covered by FECA?

Federal employees have three years to file a claim for injuries. There are two kinds of injuries, traumatic and occupational. In order to receive continuation of pay (COP), a claim for a traumatic injury must be filed within 30 days of the injury on a Form CA-1.

Ask your employer to authorize medical treatment on Form CA-16 before you go to a doctor. If you sustain an occupational disease or illness, submit Form CA-2. Both of these forms may be obtained from your employing agency. There is no continuation of pay allowed for an occupational claim. To file a claim for compensation for lost wages due to a traumatic injury or occupational disease, file Form CA-7. Compensation may be claimed when an employee goes on leave without pay status.
